When the Patriots extended their lead with a Stephen Gostkowski field goal that put them up 40-33 with 3:15 left in the game, it felt like there was still an eternity of football yet to be played. The fate of the game was still utterly undecided. Just twelve seconds later, Tyreek Hill had streaked 75-yards down the field on yet another brilliant pass from Patrick Mahomes, scoring the tying touchdown in the blink of an eye.
Against any other team, viewers would`ve been on the edge of their seats, sure that the Chiefs had just set themselves up for an epic comeback win. Instead, a familiar sense of foreboding crept over all non-New Englanders as the Chiefs handed the the ball back to the Patriots and Tom Brady with three minutes left.
Even Brady himself knew that they`d left him too much time. After the game, he was asked about his confidence level on the final drive.
